It is clarified that on Wednesday, May 29, at least three aircraft of Russian airlines flew into Finnish airspace en route to Kaliningrad. According to the source, the European country allowed them to do this due to difficult weather conditions: a thunderstorm front formed over the Gulf of Finland, which prevented the liners from flying through a narrow corridor over neutral waters.
Last time, two European countries — Finland and Estonia — launched Russian planes into their skies in August 2023. This happened for the first time since February 2022, when the airspace of European countries was closed to Russian airlines.
