Konstantin Ernst, the head of Russia’s flagship state-controlled news network Channel One, likened Apple co-founder Steve Jobs to Adolf Hitler on Monday, according to Agentstvo Media.
Speaking at Moscow’s Creating the Future Symposium, Ernst criticized Jobs for inventing the iPhone, which he called an “extremely harmful and monstrous thing for humanity”:
[The iPhone] has destroyed the world of human connections. Now, instead of visiting your parents, you call them. Sometimes this lets you avoid visiting them for months or even years. Your interactions with friends also get reduced to calls, and eventually to texts, because calling is now considered rather impolite. […] So for me personally, Steve Jobs falls in the same category of figures where, not too far ahead of him in line, Adolf Hitler stands.
