The European Union has voiced serious concerns regarding reports suggesting that North Korea may send soldiers to assist Russia in its military operations in Ukraine.

Peter Stano, spokesperson for foreign policy at the European Commission, addressed the issue during a briefing on October 21, citing information that points to an expansion of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

“We are aware of reports indicating that North Korea and Russia are enhancing their existing military ties, which could involve sending North Korean soldiers to Russia. This must be a particularly ‘special’ operation Russia is conducting in Ukraine if it requires the support of soldiers from a rogue regime under United Nations sanctions,” Stano remarked.

He further expressed alarm at the deepening military collaboration between the two nations and the potential transfer of weapons, stating that such actions are in clear violation of multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“If these reports are confirmed, this would signify a new level of escalation in their cooperation,” Stano warned.

Stano underscored the EU’s concern that this move reflects Russia’s determination to escalate the conflict in Ukraine and its unwillingness to pursue peaceful solutions. He emphasized that such actions send a clear signal of Russia’s intentions in the ongoing war.
