The FIDE World Cadet Chess Championships (under 8, 10, and 12 years old, Open and Girls) kicked off in Montesilvano, Italy. These competitions involve 716 young players out of 81 world countries. Russia is represented by 27 players.
Most of the rating favourites have won their first round games. Russian winners include Kirill Morozevich, Reana Kinzyabulatova, Roman Shogdzhiev, Alisa Genrietta Yunker, Kristina Zavivaeva, Tatiana Mozolevskaya, and others.
