Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin took part in a meeting of the Republican Organising Committee for the BRICS Games. The meeting, chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, was held in Kazan. The meeting was also attended by Tatarstan’s Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov and Minister of Construction Marat Aizatullin. This is reported by the official

Oleg Matytsin expressed high confidence in Kazan’s capabilities to host the BRICS Games. The city has already proven its ability to successfully host world and national level events. Noting the importance of the upcoming Games, the Minister emphasised the serious preparation of the national teams and the responsibility to the BRICS countries.
“The upcoming BRICS Games occupy an important place in the sports calendar, so thorough work is being done with sports federations to prepare the national teams. This year Russia is chairing the BRICS association, which imposes a special responsibility in connection with the arrival of high-level guests. There is no doubt that the BRICS Sports Games will be another reason for pride,” said the head of the Ministry of Sport of Russia.
Rustam Minnikhanov confirmed the availability of resources for the large-scale event and active work on the preparation of the Games. The action plan has already been approved, and the Tatarstan government is responsible for taking all measures to ensure the success of the event.
The issues of security, preparation of sports venues and cultural programmes for the participants were discussed. The BRICS Games are scheduled for June 2024 in Kazan and will include 29 sports and about 5,000 participants from 75 countries.
