Valatty: The Tale of Tails, a Malayalam comedy drama featuring dogs, which released on July 23, 2023, is headed to Russia. Written and directed by Devan and produced by Friday Film House, Valatty is the first Malayalam movie to have secured distribution by a Russian company for a theatrical release in the Russian language.
The makers of Valatty: The Tale of Tails confirmed the news on social media. The film, which will be dubbed in Russian, will be released in theatres in Russia on April 25.
Taking to social media, actor and director Vijay Babu posted “Our Valattys are going beyond our borders! Happy to announce that ‘Valatty – Tale of Tails’ is being released in Russia on April 25th by Capella Films. VALATTY will be the first Malayalam movie ever to be dubbed in Russian and released by a Russian production company.
“Capella Films is one of the top 10 distribution companies in Russia. We are incredibly proud to associate with them. We hope this opens up our malayalam movie market to a much wider audience. Our sincere gratitude to one and all who stood by us to turn this cute tale into reality. Thank you!”
The makers have stated that Valatty is the first Indian film to use real dogs as actors without VFX. The makers have also used AI to make dogs talk.
One of the movie’s key talking points is the voice-over by prominent actors. Several Malayalam actors, including Soubin Shahir, Roshan Mathew, Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, Sunny Wayne, Indrans, Raveena Ravi and Ranjini Haridas, have lent their voices for the characters in the film.
The film is currently available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
