Nigeria has called on Russia to assist in boosting its oil and gas production, seeking to involve Russian companies in exploration and development projects.
Oritseweyinmi Eribo, Director General of Nigeria’s Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining, and Agriculture, expressed this interest during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
She emphasized the importance of Russian participation due to the country’s expertise in the energy sector.
“You have the technology, you have the experience, you have the know-how, you have the influence, you have the money to move this conversation forward… In my view, Russian companies should be involved in these conversations,” Eribo stated.
This call for cooperation follows a similar sentiment expressed in June 2023 by Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary of Nigeria’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and the country’s OPEC representative. Aduda highlighted the need for Nigeria to attract partners for its energy production projects. Russia’s technological prowess and experience make it a valuable potential partner for Nigeria’s energy ambitions.
